Early Life and Career

Will Parfitt is one of the UK’s most respected and accomplished jazz musicians, having played with some of the world’s top names in the genre. He has a long history of collaborations, starting out as a member of The Penguin Cafe Orchestra and later working with acclaimed artists such as Roy Haynes, Tony Coe, Niles Rogers and Herbie Hancock.

Born in 1961 in London

Parfitt started playing guitar at the age of 12 and quickly developed into a highly skilled musician. In 1984 he formed The Penguin Cafe Orchestra, which became one of the UK’s most successful jazz ensembles. The group released three albums before disbanding in 1990.

Parfitt continued to work as a freelance musician

collaborating with many famous artists including John Lee Hooker, Roy Haynes, Tony Coe, Niles Rogers and Herbie Hancock. In 2002 he formed his own quintet which released two albums before splitting up in 2006.

In 2009 Will Parfitt reunited with The Penguin Cafe Orchestra for a UK tour and has since released two more albums. He is currently touring Europe with his quintet and is set to release his latest album in 2013.
